Renovation of accommodation for Syrian refugee families

Thanks to the personal friendly contact on site with Zeina Mouannes, we were given the opportunity to support 10 Syrian refugee families with many children, who had fled to Lebanon after the start of the bloody revolution in Syria, with the renovation of their accommodation, some of which was barely habitable.The accommodation belongs to Lebanese owners who rent it out to refugees for little money. For the most part, however, the flats were in a desolate state, lacking functioning sanitary facilities, heating and suitable doors or windows. Together with our local project partner, we were able to commission craftsmen to renovate these 10 houses within 6 months so that the defects were rectified. The shelters are now weatherproof again, offer protection from the cold and provide hygienically safe shelter. Our local partner was able to conclude contracts with the owners for all the houses: In return for the realised renovations of the houses, the families are allowed to live in the shelters for at least 5 more years at the low rents.
