Ban Na Primary School
Renovation and expansion of Ban Na primary school with extension of the sports field
Location: Chomphet District, Luang Prabang, Laos
Local project partner: direct help
Our friend and long-time contact in Laos, Vanhphenh, became aware of Ban Na primary school in the Chomphet District and informed us about the difficult conditions there. The school has existed for many years, but it lacks many of the essentials needed for a safe and motivating learning environment. The school grounds and facilities are in very poor condition, which makes teaching and the children’s daily lives considerably more difficult.
The school principal carefully documented what is most urgently needed. In addition to new tables and chairs for the classrooms, fences are required to secure the school grounds. A sports field is also planned to promote exercise and community. Connecting the school to the groundwater supply will ensure access to clean water. Schooluniforms as well as sports clothing for the children are needed. Furthermore, new toilet facilities will be built to significantly improve hygiene conditions for the students.
With the support of the Tarek Mamisch Foundation, the Ban Na primary school is to be renovated and expanded with the aim of creating a safe, motivating and inspiring learning environment for the children and giving them better prospects for the future.
